Donald Cuthbertson Dennistoun Sword was the son of Alexander Bruce Dennistoun Sword.² He married Eileen Edith Caledon Alexander, daughter of Sir William Ferdinand Alexander, 5th Bt. and Edith La Fargue, on 8 December 1908.¹ He and Eileen Edith Caledon Alexander were divorced in 1918.¹ He died on 11 May 1954.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Scottish Rifles.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹
