Example Charts
The examples illustrates some of the different styles of chart which I can produce from the information currently on this web-site.
Ancestor Box Chart
Bottom-to-top
| Christopher Galwey’s ancestors (6’ x 2’) | Christopher Galwey’s ancestors with siblings (8’ x 2’) |
This is the typical UK and European orientation for an ancestor chart. They become extremely wide as you increase the number of generations.
Left-to-right
| Christopher Galwey’s ancestors (4’ x 2’) | Christopher Galwey’s ancestors with siblings (3’ x 4’) |
This is the typical U.S. orientation for an ancestor chart. They are more compact than bottom-to-top but are difficult to display if over 6ft in height.
Descendant Chart
Left-to-right
| 1st Baron Revelstoke’s descendants (3’ x 8’) |
The typical American layout of these charts. Again difficult to display if over 6ft in height.
Hourglass Chart
| John Galwey descendants and ancestors (3’ x 7’) |
A number of other layouts for an hour-glass chart also exist, but this is my favourite.
